Centrale del Latte di Torino – Gruppo Centrale del Latte d’Italia SpA – has for some time now been implementing a structured programme in various areas to develop and implement actions for environmental, territorial and social sustainability.
The new Tapporosso milk bottles from Centrale del Latte di Torino are even better for the environment because they are made of rPET.
All fresh milk and esl bottles in PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic come from recycled rPET plastic, a “valuable” material that is now one of the most innovative and future-oriented packaging products. It is light, resistant, durable, recyclable and does not lose its properties during the recycling process. PET packaging also complies with the strict hygiene conditions imposed by the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors.
The attention to the environment and sustainable packaging represents for the Centrale a path of continuous improvement to reduce CO2 emissions, to safeguard forests from the improper use of raw materials, to reduce the weight of primary and secondary packaging and to facilitate the use of recycled and recyclable materials.
The “Bottle to bottle”: the more you recycle, the less plastic you produce.
Centrale del Latte di Torino has joined Coripet, a voluntary non-profit consortium recognised by the Ministry of the Environment. Coripet’s challenge is the “bottle to bottle”: the activation of a closed Italian supply chain for PET recycling. PET plastic bottles placed on the market by consortium member companies are collected and recycled through a mechanical process to become rPET that can be used endlessly in the production of new bottles.
Sustainability actions.
Edoardo Pozzoli – CEO of Centrale del Latte d’Italia SpA – states that: “With this choice, Centrale del Latte di Torino upholds the attention and the investment towards future sustainable innovation, in favour of new generations.
The company has been a pioneer in Italy in proposing several packaging solutions: the iconic and still distributed glass bottles, the UHT milk paper packages with FSC certification (cardboard from responsibly managed sources) and fully disposable for recycling, the fresh milk in brown paper packages, not chemically bleached and lighter, also fully recyclable. The new organic milk paper packaging, made exclusively out of organic-vegetable renewable sources and a plastic cap made from sugar cane.
These are some of the concrete actions that the company has taken to actively contribute to the ecological transition of our Country”.
For over 70 years, Centrale del Latte di Torino, with 5,000 customers served every day, 4 distribution platforms, a fleet of over 70 pick-up trucks, has been the leader in Piedmont for the production and distribution of milk (fresh, ESL and UHT long-life). The company, which is part of Centrale del Latte d’Italia and Newlat Food, (the third largest Italian operator in the Milk & Dairy sector) also sells fresh products and milk by-products (cream, packed salads, yogurt, dairy products, soy, oat and rice drinks, eggs, fresh pasta and many others). The brands owned are Tapporosso, Piemonte, LAATTE Tapporosso, Fiordovo and Cappuccino Lovers. The search for quality and the safety control of the whole supply chain are a priority and the company’s mission is to produce and market high quality products, developing and enhancing its role as a cross-regional centre connecting the major industrial groups with the numerous small-scale operators.
